Problem Printing PowerPoint Slides within GeorgiaView

 Problem Description : 

PowerPoint SLides will not print directly from GeorgiaView - Save to H: Drive and then Print

 Resolution : 

 When printing PowerPoint slides from GeorgiaView, SAVE THEM ON YOUR H: DRIVE FIRST, then open and print them from the H: Drive. Do not try to open and print them from GeorgiaView. This is a known issue(see Below). We are seeing an increase in printing problems in the labs due to this this issue.

When I try to open a Word or PowerPoint document within Vista (while using Internet Explorer), why do I get kicked back to the institutional login page?

ANSWER:

This problem occurs only if the student or faculty member has Office 2007 installed on their computer. This is NOT related to the new Office 2007 file extension format (i.e., docx, etc.) since all files are in the "compatible" format. 

This does not occur with files VIEWED with Office 2003. Also, this problem does not seem to occur when using Firefox, but does occur with both Internet Explorer version 6 and version 7. 

suggested work around:

 Select SAVE instead of OPEN, when accessing the document with IE. .
