DO NOT follow instructions provided with Troy Printer. Instructions provided are for a Parallel port (LPT1) connection and should not be used.

1. Go to http://www.troygroup.com > click Support from top menu > Click PRODUCT INSTALLATION > Click TROY 3015 MICR Printer link. (http://www.troygroup.com/firmware/3015.aspx)

2. Download the printer driver (32 or 64 bit depending on system)

3. Close all applications before installing the HP Universal PCL 5 printer driver.

4. Prior to installing, User Account Control (UAC) will need to be disabled. To disable UAC, open the Start menu then click Control Panel. From Control Panel, select User Accounts. From the User Accounts window, select the link titled Change User Account Control Settings. Sliding the gauge all the way to the bottom will disable UAC. Once you have slid the gauge to the bottom click OK. This will prompt you to reboot the machine. Click Restart Now to reboot the machine. Once you have rebooted, continue.

5. Plug USB for printer into the computer and let the "plug-in-play" install the drivers. Make a note of the Port that the printer was installed on (will be a .4).

6. From the Start menu, click on Control Panel, and then click on Devices and Printers

7. Double-click on Add Printer, click on Next, choose the Local Printer and then click on Next.

8. Select the appropriate printer port from the displayed list or create a new port and then click on Next to continue

9. From the Add Printer Wizard window, click on Have Disk

10. From the Install From Disk window, click on Browse.

11. Browse to where the driver files were extracted after you downloaded the driver from TROY’s website. It will automatically choose the appropriate .inf file that will be used. Click on OK to close the Open window, and then click on OK to close the Install From Disk window.

12. Choose to replace the existing driver

13. Give the printer a name (TROY MICR), choose sharing options, print a test page and complete installation.

STEP 2: Install the TROY Metrics File for Windows 7

1. Close all applications before installing the TROY Font support files.

2. Download the MICR Support Files from http://www.troygroup.com/firmware/3015.aspx.

3. In order for the OS to be able to permanently load the fonts to the printer, the PCM Files directory needs to be placed at the root of the C: drive. Extract the downloaded files to the root of the C: drive.

4. From the Start menu, click on Control Panel, and then double-click on Printers.

5. Right-click on the TROY Printer that was installed, and then click on Printer Properties from the menu.

6. Click on the Device Settings tab located at the top of the Properties window.

7. Click on External Fonts (under the Font Substitution Table category), and then click on the Properties button.

8. Click on the Browse button to open the drive selection window.

9. Expand the C: drive, double-click on the PCM Files folder, click on the Domestic folder, and then click on OK to close the drive selection window.

10. Use the SHIFT key to select all the fonts located in the left-hand window named TROY Auto-Protect, TROY CMC7, etc., and then click on Add to add those fonts. If you want to add an individual font, just highlight that specific font name and click on the Add button. All the added fonts should be displayed in the right-hand window.

NOTE: If you need to install the Barcode fonts, repeat 8 through 10 but browse to the Barcode folder instead of Domestic.

11.Close all remaining open windows. Please refer to the TROY Security Printing Solutions User’s Guide, Section 7 – Using TROY Fonts

NOTE: Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7 and Server 2008 do not require installation of the TROY screen fonts.

12. User will choose TROY MICR printer when printing a check.

If possible ask the user to print a check to test. Check routing numbers should appear at bottom as well as the correct signature. May need to turn off printer > insert signature card (if it isnt already) and turn printer back on.
