BannerConnect Upgrade Instructions for Touchnet
Problem Description :
How to perform the BannerConnect upgrades in TEST and PROD
Resolution :
Get your IP address first
1. Download zipped folder from Touchnet FTP site
2. Through Secure Shell or Filezilla, connect to Pebbles as banmgr - Create a new folder with the name of the current version under /upgrades/banner/bannerconnect/ (ex. 2017.1). Transfer the zipped upgrade files to /upgrades/banner/bannerconnect/<new folder>. FILES MUST BE MOVED IN BINARY.
3. Log in to Pebbles through Putty as Banmgr - Go to upgrades/banner/bannerconnect/<new folder>
4. Unzip the file (> unzip tn-bc-hosted-solutions-2015.1.1.zip) You do not need the .tar file - just the zip file.
5. While in Pebbles type export DISPLAY=<ip address>:0.0 (example export DISPLAY=168.26.255.222:0.0)
6. On your workstation - under All Programs - go to XMING > XLaunch
7. In XLaunch Wizard, take all Defaults except check 'no access control'
8. Back on Pebbles from the bannerconnect directory (cd /upgrades/banner/bannerconnect/<new folder>) run the bcsputility.jar utility. The utility now requires Java 7 so the full path to java is required.
Type /usr/java/jdk1.7.0_80/bin/java –jar bcspuitility.jar. When the utility opens on your PC, click next.
9. Choose all of the products we have (all of them) and click next
6. Choose Students Log in to your system with student id and PIN and click next
7. Click Next - Do not check the Banner7 Advancement block
8. Choose we are licensed to use Touchnet eRefunds
9. Enter the DAD username – BANINST1 and choose next - Click RUN NOW - find the JDBC drive jar file (located at /upgrades/banner/bannerconnect/2014.2/bannerconnect/jdbc) - called ojdbc14.jar
17. JBDC URL Connection type - choose Advanced – String is jdbc:oracle:thin:@pebbles.gordonstate.edu:1026:TEST (1025:PROD)
18. Enter the system password (manager) click next
19. Enter the Touchnet password – touchnet click next -
20. Click Next to run store procedures
21. DONE!
