Error doing Forgot PIN in Banner Web

Problem Description : 

Student receives an error when doing "Forgot PIN" process in Banner to reset their PIN

 

 

 Resolution : 

Correct process is:

1) student enters their GCID (929#) into the User ID Field

2) Click on Forgot PIN? button

3) They should get 1 of 2 questions. 

 a) For an applicant (new or readmit) not yet registered the question should prompt for 2 digit day of birth and last 4 digits of SSN.

 b) For a current or registered student the question should prompt for last 4 digits from back of GC photo ID and last 4 digits of SSN.

4) Student enters answer into the Answer field and clicks on Submit Answer.

5) Banner will prompt them to enter a New PIN and confirm with a Re-enter new PIN. 

6) If they enter a new valid PIN it will continue on with the logon process.

 

Possible Errors:

Authorization Failure - Invalid User ID or PIN. Did not enter User ID before clicking on Forgot PIN?

 Entered an invalid GCID

 Entered an invalid PIN

Authorization Failure - Invalid Answer. Entered answer incorrectly

 Banner Information (DOB or SSN) is incorrect

PIN must be 6 digits long. Did not enter 6 digits for New PIN

PIN must contain only digits! Entered a character other than numbers for their New PIN

New PIN must be different than existing PIN! Entered their current PIN for New PIN
