ADP for Managers gives warning that an earlier version of Java is required

Problem Description :

When manager launches ADP to approve timecards, they receive warning that the application requires an earlier version of Java and must click on Run to continue. This happens every time the application is launched.

 Resolution :

This error is due to 2 Java's now being required - 1.6.0_6 for ADP and 1.6.0_16 for Banner 8.

Follow steps below to work-around receiving this warning:

Select Start => Control Panel.

If you see this screen then click on “Switch to Classic View” in top right corner.

You should see the following screen:

Double-click on Java icon.

On the Java Control Panel, select the Java tab then click on the View button.

On the Java Runtime Environment Settings Panel you will probably see multiple versions of Java listed with all versions checks for Enabled. Please make sure the user has the 1.6.0_06 version. If not, that will need to be installed by desktop support. If it is listed then have the user uncheck all versions except the 1.6.0_16 (or the latest version if a later version than 1.6.0_16 is installed) then click on OK and then Apply.

Before changes:

After updates and after another Java update had been pushed out.

User will need to close their internet browser completely to be able to test their results.

Another issue we have seen is where the manager can login to ADP portal and click on the Time tab but when they try to go into eTime under the manager link, eTime will open but the manager gets a blank eTime screen with Done in the bottom left corner.

This is normally caused by a Java issue. Make sure the PC has version 1.6.0_06 installed. If they do and the problem persists then ask a desktop technician to push out another 1.6.0_06 to the PC.
