Change User Name/Email in Active Directory
Problem Description :
Username/Email needs changing in Active Directory
Resolution :
This changes username for faculty, staff and or students
Changing User Name/Email for Active Directory
1. Open MBX1 Server on VMWare
2. Execute the Rename Student Account batch script by double cliking the icon
3. Enter the current username and press Enter. Enter the new username and press Enter. The script should run and return results similar to below. Any RED errors should be noted.
4.In Banner, update the email address on GOAEMAL and Third Party ID on GOATPAD
5. Change name or run D2L file to change username on D2L
6. Ask student to get new student ID to have correct account name on back of ID after waiting at least 1 hour for ID system to update.
7. Must also change username in Office 365 through powershell. Instructions found in best solution #325.

Steps executed by the Rename Student Account script. These DO NOT need to be executed.
2. Open Active Directory Users and Computers
3. Locate user to be changed
4. Right click and select Rename
Enter new name and press enter
5. A “Rename User” dialog should come up. Enter new info for:
- All name information including First name, Last name and Display name
- User logon name(pre-Windows 2000)
6. On Exchange Management Console General tab, change alias
7. Open the server with users home folder (hawk for all) and rename the users home folder
8. Back on Pegasus in Active Directory Users and Computers, change the homefolder on the Profile tab. An error message stating that it can't create folder will come it.
9. On Exchange Management Wait until the address in the Email Address tab verify that the old address is an alias - set as SMTP, not primary email address
