Creating Student Class Web Folders

Problem Description :

Creating folders on Osprey for students to use as web folders for class

 Resolution :

NOTE: Don't run until after drop/add for the semester

Faculty should request the SUBJ NUMB SEC of classes they want web folders for. Once received, do the following:

If this is first run of the semester:

1) Remove all folders under the \\falcon\d$\inetpub\classweb

To create folders;

1) Must run after the class folder script has been run. Uses the same courses.dat and students.dat file created for regular class folders. These files are built from EJODY.sql on \\heron\d$\batch\class_folders.

2) Remove members from webmaster_classweb group. This group allows individuals to access the classweb folder and the share drive.

2) On Falcon open d:\batch\class_folders

3) Edit the text file classweb.txt to have for the requested classes. As new requests come in, just append to the file.

4) Run the command d:\batch\class_folders\classweb.bat to create web folders and AD groups

5) Verify the folders by opening web site under My Gordon|Student Web Pages. If there are any names that are not Last, First format, check the folder name on \\falcon\d$\inetpub\classweb. If there are multi word last names, Jr/Sr in last name field, etc, it will name the folder incorrectly. To correct, check permissions on the folder to get the student's account and look in active directory for the students name. Then, rename the folder to be Last, First format.

6) Notify the instructors that the folders are created.
