How to install Java 1.6.0_06 for ADP

Problem Description : 

Any workstations identified as being used with the Timestamp function and any user who is a manager or a supervisor will need Java version 1.6.0_06.

 Resolution : 

UPDATE: Update 6 is now included with the packager install. Shouldnt need to install it manually now.

1. Go to D drive on casper (W:) > New Machine Setups > ADP eTime

2. Double-click on jre-6u6-windows-i586-p.exe to install JAVA 1.6.0_06

3. After installation is complete - double-click on the registry edit file eTimeManager.reg in the ADP eTime folder. Click ok on the warning message that appears to add to the registry. This edit ensures that JAVA version 1.6.0_06 is always used with eTime by disabling secure static versioning. Secure Static versioning (SSV) is where no matter which version of Java an untrusted program requests, it will receive the highest installed version. We don't want this so if there are versions installed on the machine higher than 1.6.0_06 then we have to disable SSV.

4. Next go to Control Panel and double-click on the JAVA icon. Click on the update tab and un-check the box to never check for updates automatically.

UPDATE: Some users are getting “Missing Theme” errors when they are in portal (especially in e-time). This error is caused when the system is forced to use the most recent version of Java (JRE) even though that is not compatible with ADP system. In order to allow the system to use correct version of JRE, uncheck the Use JRE 1.n.n_nn box as shown below. To access this screen, open your Internet Explorer browser and click on Tools ~ Internet Options ~ Advanced. Then, scroll down until you see this checkbox.
