Installing Office 2007 Converters
Problem Description :
PC needs converters installed so it can read Office 2007 documents using Office 2003
Resolution :
The converters may be installed remotely by CSD staff.
1 - On any PC, open DOS prompt
2 - Change to directory W:\New Machine Setups\xp_remote>
3 - Execute command "ldconv2007 gdnxxxx" where gdnxxxx is the computer name of the PC
The install process will create a file name c:\xp_remote\fileformatconverters.log on the PC being installed.
The converters will not become effective until the PC is rebooted. It should not rebooted until the install process is complete. To verify the install process is complete, you can either:
1 - Do a psexec \\gdnxxxx and see if the process fileformatconverters.exe is running (it may show up as fileformatc because of process name length)
2 - Check the log file mentioned above. The last 2 lines should read
OpatchInstall: Clean up done
OPatchInstall: Run ends
To install the converters on several PCs at once, use the commands
1 - On any PC, open DOS prompt
2 - Change to directory W:\New Machine Setups\xp_remote>
3 - Execute command "ldconv2007_loop file.txt" where file.txt is a text file containing a list of PCs to install converters.
