Configure DLink DES-1228P Web Smart Switch

 Problem Description : 

Steps to configure a DLink DES-1228P Web Switch

 Resolution : 

Initial Configuration DLink DES1228P

1.Set IP Address for Ethernet connection on laptop to 198.168.0.5/255.255.255.0

2.Connect laptop to 1228P with regular cat5 path cable

3.In internet browser, enter URL address of http://198.168.0.1

4.Default password for 1228P is admin

5.On wizard that loads, enter new password as network admin password and click Apply

6.Under SNMP settings enable and click Apply

7.Under IP settings enter what will be switches 168.26.244.0/24 IP and click Apply

8.Switch will reset and come up under new IP address

9.Disconnect patch cable from laptop 

System Setup for DLink DES1228P

1.Using client on the 244 subnet (wireless connection of same laptop will work) open internet browser and enter new IP address for switch

2.Enter network admin password

3.Under System options set following:

1.IP Information – should be static and what was entered above

2.System Information – Enter system name, i.e. “gdn” and decal number, system location. Click Apply

4.Under Configuration options set following:

1.LLDP Settings – Enable LLDP and click Apply

Discovering and Configuring APs

1.On laptop, open the DLink Smart WLAN Manager

2.Under the Tools|Discovery Wizard, enter the IP address of switch

3.If new APs are discovered, a Save New Device dialog should come up. Check the Apply Default check box next to all APs and then click Save.

4.New APs should now show in the Monitor Window

5.Selecting the Tree view will show all discovered switches and associated APs
