NOTE: Only IPs in the 168.26.240.1/24 range can access the Avamar console and documentation (Firewall rules set at ITS).

Admin Console (installed on Heron)

Install Avamar on Linux

1.rpm –ivh name_of_rpm

2.Activate

O – override

Tools –> Manage Schedule | Daily and Databases

Daily Backup performed at 8:00 p.m (file backup) and 3:00 am (VM image backup).

       Can run for 10 hours before it will timeout.

Retention 7 days / 4 weeks

Client Logs

       C:\Program files\avs\var\ - Windows

       usr/local/avamar/log – Linux

SQL Server Backups

Navigation -> Manage Datasets

       Click on SQL DB -> Edit -> Options Tab ? view Advanced options 

       Scroll down and enter SQL Server credentials

Avamar VMware Proxy Setup

On pg.99, Step 5 of the documentation asks you to enter "the Avamar server DNS name:" please enter:

Avamar 18.1 - davmutil.bor.usg.edu

Step 6 asks you to enter "anAvamarserver domain name" please enter:

For VCenter 6.0 on Avamar 18.1, use /vmproxies/vcenter6.gdn.peachnet.edu
